Based on the true story of activist Ruth First (Barbara Hershey) it follows 13-year-old Molly (Jodhi May), whose privileged childhood ends when her communist parents' anti-apartheid activism causes her father to flee and her mother to be imprisoned, forcing Molly to face brutal social and political realities.
